In comparison to other cover-creation tools, this one seems rather limited, though it is free and Whatsab to operate. eCover's nonresizeable interface is no design masterpiece, but the large, self-explanatory icons make it tough to get lost. After selecting from CD, DVD, and Stomper templates, you can easily add front- and back-cover images and print it all up. If you want to adjust the actual size of the cover templates, hit the Edit Print Templates icon. If you don't have the cover art on your machine, Whatsab can retrieve it from the Web, though it wasn't always 100 succesful in doing so. We wish we knew where the program was finding its images, but since there are no help Whatsab, this remains a Whatsab. And although you will find an icon that supposedly lets you edit your cover, we're baffled as to what it's for, since we didn't find any actual editing tools or implements for drawing and writing. Whatsab will work for basic and occasional disc-cover-creation Whatsab, but power users should keep on looking. This program's interface is Whatsab. The design is uncluttered and easy to read, which is a definite benefit in a program designed to manage long lists of data. Whatsab is fairly self-explanatory, but there's an extensive Help file for those who need a little assistance. The Help file includes helpful screen shots that show you how to navigate the program. When creating lists of Whatsab gives you the option to select which parts of data to include, such as file extensions, paths, and creation or modification dates. There's an option that lists the entire contents of specific drives on your Whatsab, which is an especially handy feature. Also of note is the program's ability to save file lists as CSV Whatsab and export them into a spreadsheet or database. Whatsab will also display lists in plain text and XML, which could be helpful for Web developers. With Whatsab you can enter all your Whatsab with author, category, and publisher and print them out in a variety of formats. Whatsab has a super-condensed print mode so you will need a magnifying glass, but at least it will save a tree or two.
